My husband I had a spectacular time at the Michigan Asian Pacific American Affairs Commission's annual dinner.
The Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) community is one of the fastest growing demographics in Michigan and I am thrilled to recognize and honor this community's contributions to our state.

Yesterday, we had the privilege of unveiling the Elizabeth Hamer sculpture at Hamer Finch Wilkins Park in Royal Oak. It was an honor to be joined by descendants of Henry and Elizabeth Hamer, making the occasion even more special for our community.
Freedom-seekers Henry Hamer (1816 – 1899) and Elizabeth Hamer (1824 – 1913) were early Royal Oak settlers who arrived after escaping slavery. Henry and Elizabeth’s travel to freedom is recognized by the National Park Service who designated Henry and Elizabeth’s grave sites (Royal Oak) as a location on the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom.
This beautiful bronze statue of Elizabeth Hamer was created by Detroit sculptor Austen Brantley. #internationalundergroundrailroadmonth #royaloak #freedomseekers #history #michigan #community

One of my proudest accomplishments is getting the "Justice for Allie" bills passed in the legislature. This young woman has moved mountains to protect other vulnerable adults and continues to shine so bright.
Congratulations to Allie for receiving this prestigious award!

I’m so proud of my colleague for championing such important legislation, allowing folks to save money and energy! #demsdeliver🏡💡 Our bill was signed into Michigan law by Governor Gretchen Whitmer!
Under House Bill 5028 (Public Act 68 of 2024), a homeowners association (HOA) would not be able to prevent the ability of a homeowner to make energy-saving modifications and improvements on their home. This would mean no more all out prohibitions on things such as rooftop solar panels or EV chargers, amongst other energy saving improvements.
I have heard from so many constituents from not only House District 24 but all over Michigan on this issue. Michiganders are eager to make energy-saving modifications to their home. These investments can come with a host of benefits for homeowners, such as: reduced energy costs, increased property value, environmental sustainability, and energy independence!
