It’s been such an exciting past couple of weeks with some amazing visitors in my office!
I met with the Mayor’s Youth Council on their Capitol tour and got to hear about the awesome work they’re doing!
Grandville kiddos on the robotics team, along with their parents, stopped by my office to share their amazing robots with me—it was so great to see such young students putting in hard work for what they love!
Today, I met Troy, an ICU nurse at Butterworth, who was in Lansing for a career development day. He shared insights about the LINKS program he’s involved in, and it was inspiring to hear about his dedication to his work and patients!
And lastly, Grimace joined us at the Capitol to celebrate 50 years of the Ronald McDonald House!
I loved meeting with each and every one—thank you all for the incredible work you do!

Just hours ago, House Republicans forced through two bills without bringing them before the committee.
One of these bills slashes 25% from school funding—harming at-risk students, English language learners, career and technical education programs, and more.
I would never vote against our schools, teachers, families, and kids! This reckless tactic is straight out of Trump’s playbook—undermining government and the vital services Michiganders rely on. We must stand up and fight for our future.

As Black History Month comes to a close, I want to highlight an incredible event I had the privilege of attending. The “Honoring the Legacy of Black Veterans” event was a truly meaningful experience, celebrating the bravery, sacrifices, and enduring impact of Black veterans. I gained a deeper appreciation for Black history and legacies, learning about influential figures like William Harvey Carney, Benjamin Banneker, Isiah Mays, and many others. It was an inspiring community gathering, filled with powerful stories of service, perseverance, and resilience. ... See MoreSee Less
