Last week I testified before the House Agriculture Committee in support of House Bill 4265, a bipartisan effort to support methane digesters in Michigan. The bill provides clear guidance and streamlines the permitting process so digesters can turn agricultural waste into renewable energy and natural fertilizer.

Last week I testified before the House Agriculture Committee in support of House Bill 4265, a bipartisan effort to support methane digesters in Michigan. The bill provides clear guidance and streamlines the permitting process so digesters can turn agricultural waste into renewable energy and natural fertilizer.

This is a huge opportunity for our state. Michigan could potentially be #1 in the country for this industry if we get our permitting in line. It’s environmentally positive, climate positive, and good economics for farms. So it’s a win, win, win!

Today on International Workers Day, I proudly joined my colleagues to introduce a bill package that restores balance, fairness, and respect in the workplace for Michigan workers while returning local control to our communities.

My bill repeals PA 98 of 2011, which banned Project Labor Agreements (PLAs) on public construction projects. Repealing this law restores local control, empowering communities to use PLAs to negotiate fair wages, ensure safety, and strengthen labor standards.

Too often, border communities like mine have seen out-of-state contractors undercut Michigan workers by skirting our laws and paying substandard wages. This bill will help change that by strengthening protections for our workforce and ensuring that Michigan jobs go to Michigan workers who deserve fair wages and dignity on the job.Image attachment
