Congratulations to Clawson Manor on the re-dedication ceremony last week. It is exciting to see such updates and changes in affordable housing communities. It is bittersweet to say goodbye to Consul General Yusuke Shindo and his wife, Seiko. It has been such a pleasure to get to know them over the years and has allowed me to reminisce about my time living in Japan. I wish them all the best on their next adventure!

Michigan House passes bills providing more education on safe gun storage
Two bills passed by Democrats in the Michigan Legislature this week would require the state health department to develop information on safe gun storage to distribute to schools.

I am so happy to share that the Safe Homes, Safe Schools bill package, which I proudly sponsored alongside State Rep. Julie Brixie, has passed the House. This crucial legislation ensures that schools will now send home important information about Michigan’s new safe storage laws, helping keep our children and communities safer.
Ensuring that parents know the new rules regarding the safe storage of guns is one of the best ways we can protect our kids, both in our homes and our schools.
