Hello House District 32!

This week is #BlackMaternalHealthWeek! Strengthening Black maternal health starts with listening, funding, and policy change.

This week and every week we uplift the voices of Black women and mothers across Michigan. By honoring generations of Black mamas and investing in community-led solutions, we help build a future where every birth is safe and every mother is heard.

This past Saturday I had the pleasure of attending the second annual Black Maternal Health Cafe right here at Parkridge Community Center in Ypsilanti. At the Cafe, we got to hear talks from inspiring leaders in Black maternal health including my wife Kamilah!

To Black mothers and families: We see you. We hear you. We’re with you.

I stopped by Educate Youth here in Ypsilanti to learn about some of the great afterschool programing available for our children.

Giving our kids opportunities to learn and grow while having fun is so important!

Thank you Educate Youth for inviting me to share in the experience!
