Please prioritize bringing the bipartisan bill 1052 to vote this week. The radioactive material being brought to and buried in Wayne County is unsafe for our communities. That is why it is being moved from other communities. Does this even make sense? We are worry about our family‘s health and wealth. The Senate has done its part and passing this bill. Today I had the pleasure of welcoming the family of Ms. Lillie Lester, the first woman and first Black woman to ever serve as a legislative sergeant-at-arms in the United States. Ms. Lester was also a founding member of the Michigan Legislative Black Caucus. Her legacy in the House, and Michigan, will always be remembered. #MiLeg

As we move ahead during lame-duck, I’ve got more on my wish-list for Detroiters and everyone across the state. I’m going to keep working on making water more affordable, increasing unemployment benefits, and making our neighborhoods safer. I’ve heard from folks that these are their priorities, so they are mine, too. Working for the people is why I get up every morning and work hard everyday.

The opportunity to serve Detroiters and all Michiganders is a privilege I am grateful for everyday. As the legislative term winds down, I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting on all the wins we were able to bring for the people of Michigan — giving folks some breathing room in their budget, making sure kids are fed at school, addressing issues in the juvenile justice system, and creating more housing opportunities that people can afford. I’m going to keep putting one foot in front of the other to serve this great state.
