As we close out the 102nd Legislature, the outcome is deeply disappointing. We were unable to advance several key pieces of legislation—including minimum wage and tip credit, short-term rentals, and many other critical priorities. This inaction falls short of the progress we had hoped to achieve, and we understand and share the frustration of those who expected more.
Despite these challenges, we are incredibly proud of the Michigan Senate Democrats for their extraordinary leadership. After more than 24 hours in session, they worked tirelessly to advance key legislation and set a powerful example of dedication and commitment to Michigan’s future. Their efforts remind us of what true public service looks like.
Looking ahead, we are energized by the opportunity to do better. We must reject the politics of the status quo that often stand in the way of meaningful change. With a new leadership team in the House, we’re committed to fighting for working families and pushing for legislation that puts people first. Together, we can and will achieve the progress Michigan deserves.

This week, we took a major step to support Michigan workers! The bipartisan passage of SB 40 restored 26 weeks of unemployment benefits & raised the weekly max benefit to $614 for the first time in 20+ years. Proud to stand with my colleagues to put workers and families first.

This is great. Now we gotta fix how a person can have a Unemployment hearing, judgement goes in their favor, receive the benefits to only get another letter weeks later saying "Oh we couldnt hear the testimony" Has another hearing with the same judge, then loses. Now may be on the hook to pay thousands of dollars back. So not fair.
Please support the 9 Pay Equity Bills that are currently in the Michigan House Labor Committee. Vote to send them out of committee so they can be voted on in the House. Thank you!
Yesterday, we took a significant step forward by passing legislation to support Michiganders who have been wrongfully convicted. This bill ensures that those who have lost years of their lives to injustice can access the resources they need to rebuild.
I’m proud to stand with my colleagues to right these wrongs and reaffirm our commitment to fairness and accountability in our justice system.

House Bills 4753 and 5606-09 will help achieve clean energy goals, advance new nuclear technologies, create jobs, expand educational opportunities, invest in workforce development, and position Michigan as a national leader in clean, reliable energy.
