LOVE THAT dress!!!!!
Happiness in the year of the snake, State Representative Mai Xiong!
Happy new year!
This morning, I had the pleasure of hosting my first coffee hour / community conversation of the year at Apple Annie’s in Roseville, a charming cafe and bakery in the 13th District. It was inspiring to connect with my constituents, hear their thoughts, and discuss the issues that matter most to them.
From supporting small businesses and strengthening our local economy to addressing concerns about housing, senior services, veterans, and public health, these conversations remind me why I’m committed to serving our community.
Thank you to everyone who joined and to Apple Annies for providing the perfect space to gather. Your voices shape the work I do every day.
If you couldn’t make it this time, don’t worry—there will be more opportunities to connect in the weeks ahead! Sign up for my e-newsletter to be notified here: housedems.com/mai-xiong/enews-signup/

UPDATE ON HOUSE BILL 6058:
This morning, the Michigan Senate passed Senate Resolution 3 to authorize the Senate Majority Leader to take any legal action necessary to compel the House, to present the 9 bills currently being held hostage by our Republican Speaker, to the governor.
Thankful to our colleagues, Michigan Senate Democrats under the leadership of Leader Senator Winnie Brinks for taking this legal action.
I hope House Republicans will just do the simple, constitutional thing of presenting these bills now.
We won’t stop fighting for HB6058, a bill that would lower health insurance for thousands of Michigan’s public employees!

Awesome news!!!!
You got that ponzi money? 💰
This morning, I held a press conference to address a critical issue impacting Michigan’s public sector workforce. House Bill 6058 is a bill I proudly sponsored to provide much-needed financial relief to public employees –our teachers, firefighters, police officers, and municipal workers, ensuring they have access to affordable health care.
Public employees are the backbone of our communities. They educate our children, keep us safe, and keep our communities running. Yet, far too often, they accept lower salaries in exchange for the promise of quality benefits.
The current staffing shortages across our public sector, in schools, firehouses, and municipal services, underscore the urgency of this issue. When employees are supported with fair compensation and robust benefits, they can better serve their communities without sacrificing their own well-being or that of their families.
House Bill 6058 is about paying workers their worth, valuing their commitment, and creating an environment where public service is both sustainable and rewarding.
This bill passed both the House and Senate chambers, and was referred to the Clerk for enrollment printing and presentation to the Governor in December. Unfortunately, this bill, and 8 others, have not been presented to the governor as constitutionally required.
Article IV, Section 33 of the Michigan constitution says, "Every bill passed by the legislature shall be presented to the governor before it becomes law." There is a constitutional process in place for how a bill becomes law and we must respect it. This failure directly impacts thousands of public employees and their families who are counting on this relief.
It’s time to do what’s right for Michigan’s public workers. They deserve affordable health care, respect, and policies that reflect their invaluable contributions to our state. Let’s ensure all employees are paid their worth and supported with the benefits they need.

As a county road commission employee in Northern Michigan, many thanks!!!!
Thank you for fighting so hard for this, Rep. Xiong!
You make more money than 99% of the citizens you represent, for doing nothing. Pay for your own damn Healthcare. You also got ponzi money.

What can we do to help?
Tell us about the ponzi scheme.
This morning I was honored to attend the Macomb County Ministrial Alliance Annual MLK Breakfast with community members, and faith leaders, including Pastor Dorian Cast of LAM Christian Church.
Today, we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.—a man who taught us the power of courage, unity, and hope.
Dr. King reminded us that “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” His words are a call to action, even today.

As President Joe Biden’s term comes to an end, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for his lifetime of service to our nation. From his time in the Senate to his role as Vice President and finally as President, his dedication to unity, progress, and the well-being of all Americans has been unwavering.
Pictured here: I had the honor of meeting President Biden on September 14, 2022 when he came to Detroit for the Auto Show. I shared that I was a county commissioner, and as he shook my hand, he replied that he started his public service career as a county commissioner!
Thank you, President Biden, for your lifetime of leadership and commitment.

How do you feel about all the pre-emptive pardons? It's almost like they knew they were committing crimes all along and chose to not even investigate it, let alone prosecute them. Also, care to share any more about the ponzi scheme where you willingly forfeited one of your homes? Did you make enough money to buy multiple homes from your mask making business?
