I have not been able to get out of my mind the horrific assassination of former Minnesota Speaker Melissa Hortman, her husband, her dog, and the shooting of Senator Hoffman and his wife this morning. I am praying for their full recovery. This is madness. It is devastating. I have no words. Political violence MUST END. I don’t care who you are or what side of the aisle you stand on — we must all condemn political violence and violent rhetoric. ... See MoreSee Less

Last month, I hosted my Town Hall on Hate Crimes and Extremism, alongside Attorney General Dana Nessel and Dr. Cynthia Miller-Idriss, founding director of the Polarization and Extremism Research and Innovation Lab (PERIL) at American University.
We had a great turnout of over 300 people and a highly informative discussion on the work we are doing to combat hate, extremism, targeted violence, and online radicalization here in Michigan. Most importantly, we discussed tangible ways you can support these efforts in our own community, especially when it comes to helping protect young people from online disinformation and violent, extremist content. I am so grateful to AG Nessel, Dr. Cynthia Miller-Idriss, Temple Israel, WBPD, and my staff for making the event such a success.

Last night, I attended the Middle Straits Lake Improvement Association’s annual meeting - we talked all about inland lake issues, permitting reform at EGLE, wakeboat ordinances, my efforts to secure ongoing funding for marine law enforcement in the state budget, as well as my upcoming Local Lakes, Local Voices listening tour this summer. I’m proud to represent so many amazing inland lake communities across Greater West Bloomfield and Commerce — protecting our inland lakes will continue to be one of my highest priorities. I will also accept any invitation to go out on our lakes this summer! 😜😎 ... See MoreSee Less
