On May 31st, the contract between UAW local 2093 and American Axle Manufacturing will expire. Workers at American Axle’s Three Rivers plant have been bargaining for almost 2 months with no results.
They are asking for fair wages, better healthcare and stronger retirement benefits. Today, the wages of workers at the three Rivers plant have still not recovered from the 2008 crash. Currently, their hourly rate caps out at $22 an hour when prior to 2008 it capped out at $29 an hour. Adjusting for inflation they make less than half of what they did 18 years ago.
Over the past 10 years American axle has made $8.4 billion in profit. They have paid their CEO $111 million and doled out nearly $231 million in compensation to their top five executives.
The UAW members working in the Three Rivers plant are struggling to afford basic needs with some even being forced to sleep in their cars.
I’m standing in solidarity with UAW local 2093 as they fight for the ability to be able to afford to live in our state. Without these workers, there is no American Axle. It’s far past time that they are treated with the respect that they deserve.

Today, I had the honor of walking in the Royal Oak Memorial Day Parade alongside my office staff and volunteers. Together, we marched to pay tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their courage and selflessness are a lasting reminder of the true cost of preserving our freedoms. On this day, my thoughts are with the families who carry these losses with them every day. ... It was an honor to join the Royal Oak community for the ribbon cutting of Patricia Paruch Park. Together we celebrated the inspiring legacy of a dedicated public servant.
This new chapter for the park reflects Patricia’s lifelong commitment to creating spaces where families can learn, explore, and grow together.
Investments in our local parks strengthen communities and create opportunities for connection across generations. I’m grateful to everyone who helped bring this project to life and to honor Patricia Paruch’s lasting impact on Royal Oak.

Over the weekend, anonymous fliers were distributed around Berkley and Huntington Woods containing antisemitic caricatures and conspiracy theories with deep roots in Nazi propaganda and centuries of persecution.
This material is designed to intimidate and to divide. And it is part of a documented national rise in antisemitic incidents that should alarm all of us.
I’m grateful for the swift, coordinated response from local elected officials, public safety, and the Berkley School District. That unity is exactly what this moment calls for.
Antisemitism has no place here, and neither does the cowardice of spreading hatred in the dark. We stand with our Jewish neighbors and against anyone who tries to use fear to fracture our community.berkleydps.evidence.com/axon/community-request/public/260004941

Today I had the pleasure of meeting with Ms. Shepard’s 3rd grade class during their trip to our state’s capitol. I love spending time with students and talking to them about the work that we do here in Lansing every day. The information that they learn today will be the beginning of what I hope will be a long life of civic engagement. ... See MoreSee Less
