Pride began as a protest. So when House Republicans blocked us from introducing the Pride Month resolution again this year, we took it to the Capitol steps and read it aloud anyway. This community has always found a way to be seen, and House Dems will always stand shoulder to shoulder with you. ... See MoreSee Less

Michiganders pay the highest energy rates in the Midwest. And utilities have been overcharging customers nationally by nearly $6 billion a year for decades.
Today, I was joined by my colleagues in introducing HBs 6093-6095 to change that. If you're tired of paying more and getting less, spread the word. And let's hold the utilities accountable together.

American Axel is continually producing bad faith contract offers that fail to address the needs of its workers. The workers of UAW Local 2093 built this company, they should be paid like it. Hold the line!

This strike is important for all of Michigan’s workers. UAW Local 2093’s fight for basic dignity in the workplace is a reminder to CEOs everywhere that all wealth is generated by workers.
That’s why I’m standing in solidarity with UAW Local 2093 as they fight for fair wages and reasonable benefits.

On May 31st, the contract between UAW local 2093 and American Axle Manufacturing will expire. Workers at American Axle’s Three Rivers plant have been bargaining for almost 2 months with no results.
They are asking for fair wages, better healthcare and stronger retirement benefits. Today, the wages of workers at the three Rivers plant have still not recovered from the 2008 crash. Currently, their hourly rate caps out at $22 an hour when prior to 2008 it capped out at $29 an hour. Adjusting for inflation they make less than half of what they did 18 years ago.
Over the past 10 years American axle has made $8.4 billion in profit. They have paid their CEO $111 million and doled out nearly $231 million in compensation to their top five executives.
The UAW members working in the Three Rivers plant are struggling to afford basic needs with some even being forced to sleep in their cars.
I’m standing in solidarity with UAW local 2093 as they fight for the ability to be able to afford to live in our state. Without these workers, there is no American Axle. It’s far past time that they are treated with the respect that they deserve.

Today, I had the honor of walking in the Royal Oak Memorial Day Parade alongside my office staff and volunteers. Together, we marched to pay tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their courage and selflessness are a lasting reminder of the true cost of preserving our freedoms. On this day, my thoughts are with the families who carry these losses with them every day. ...
