Important heat safety reminders:
- Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water and avoid fluids with excessive sugar or alcohol.
- Limit Outdoor Activity: Limit outdoor activity, especially during the hottest parts of the day.
- Check on Vulnerable Individuals: Be sure to check frequently on young children, older adults, and those with medical conditions who are at higher risk for heat-related illness.
- Recognize Signs of Heat-Related Illness: Be aware of the signs of heat exhaustion and heatstroke, including heavy sweating, muscle cramps, weakness, confusion, slurred speech, dizziness, headache, nausea, and vomiting.
- Seek Medical Help: If you suspect someone has heatstroke, call 911 for immediate medical help.
