Happy Labor Day!

Our community is once again being targeted by outside agitators who have nothing better to do than spew hateful rhetoric.

These people are not Christians. Shame on them and every awful thing they represent.

May peace, love and solidarity continue to be our way of life in Dearborn. 🩵

Smoke from Canadian wildfires has pushed air quality to Hazardous (Maroon AQI) in Wayne County and Southeast Michigan. Combined with today's warm temperatures, these conditions can pose health risks for everyone.

Wildfire smoke can affect everyone's health, but children, older adults, pregnant people, outdoor workers, and those with heart or lung conditions, including asthma, are at greater risk.

Protect yourself today:

✅ Stay indoors in air conditioning when possible and reduce activity levels
✅ Keep windows and outside doors closed
✅ Run A/C on recirculate (if available) and use a MERV-13 or higher filter when possible
✅ Avoid activities that create indoor air pollution, such as burning candles, smoking, or vacuuming
✅Seek an indoor place with A/C if you experience coughing, wheezing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning of the eyes, nose, or throat. Seek medication attention for any persistent or worsening symptoms.

I am gravely disappointed in the Governor's decision to veto the nine bills that were finally sent to her desk after nearly two years of going through the courts.

These bills would have helped hardworking people across our state by bringing down healthcare costs and investing in pensions.

I stand with my friends in organized labor, and everyone affected by this decision.

We fight on. ✊️
