I will miss my dear friend and colleague, Wayne County Commissioner Irma Clark Coleman. We shared a district together, my HD8 district overlapped with her county commission district. I will miss our candid conversations and many pearls of political wisdom she shared with me. Irma was a dedicated public servant who served as a State Rep, MI Senator, School Board Member and County Commissioner. She lived her life serving others..now it’s time to rest, job well done Irma. I will definitely miss you…tell Jewell, I said Hi!! Until we see each other again, rest well.💕🦋 ... See MoreSee Less

My response to the solar siting repeal package presented in the house today:
“It is truly telling that these are the types of bills Republicans are choosing to spend time and taxpayer’s dollars on,” said state Rep. Helena Scott (D-Detroit). “People across Michigan are struggling right now to afford basic necessities and they are purposefully choosing to take up bills that would raise energy costs and decrease energy efficiency. It is seriously problematic that this is their priority right now. The focus needs to be on lowering costs and giving Michiganders much needed breathing room — that’s what House Democrats are prioritizing.”
