Yesterday I joined with the Progressive Women’s Caucus to introduce a 10 bill package aimed at creating pay equity for women and all workers in our state.
In Michigan for every $1 earned by men, women earn only 84 cents. But, for women of color the disparity is an even wider pay gap. Black women earn only 69 cents of what men make in this state. My bill provides accountability to employers allowing them to obtain a work place Pay Equity Certificate when they meet the criteria of pay equity with all workers in their employment.
