Extremely Proud that I was able to get this important legislation passed…Negro League Day in Michigan, which we celebrate on May 2nd!!
My response to the solar siting repeal package presented in the house today:
“It is truly telling that these are the types of bills Republicans are choosing to spend time and taxpayer’s dollars on,” said state Rep. Helena Scott (D-Detroit). “People across Michigan are struggling right now to afford basic necessities and they are purposefully choosing to take up bills that would raise energy costs and decrease energy efficiency. It is seriously problematic that this is their priority right now. The focus needs to be on lowering costs and giving Michiganders much needed breathing room — that’s what House Democrats are prioritizing.”

Here are the details for the Celebration of Life of my constituent, former Mayor of Highland Park Hubert Yopp. May he Rest in Peace🙏🏾
Proud to have advocated for Ladder Truck #109 for Highland Park and Mayor Yopp in 2021… Mayor Yopp was incredibly proud of this accomplisment for his city. I was honored that he added a plaque to the truck recognizing me for acquiring this for his community.
Sorry to hear of the loss of former Highland Park Mayor Yopp…when I was first elected to the state house (2021) I served Highland Park in HD7…I was happy to secure for them a much needed state of the art firetruck and Mayor Yopp was extremely grateful for the addition of the fire truck to his city. Mayor Yopp loved Highland Park with his whole heart…he will be missed. May he rest in peace🙏🏾
