When the federal government pushes requirements that threaten access to basic necessities, Michigan steps up. In this budget, we put up over $184 million dollars to protect Michiganders' access to health care and food assistance against GOP cuts out of Washington.
We also stabilized Medicaid funding and expanded mental health care capacity with the new state psychiatric hospital opening this fall.
Health care is a basic right, and we fighting to protect it and make it affordable for you.

When it comes to elections, Republicans are trying to do two things:
1. Force the outcome in their favor, no matter the voice of the people.
2. Distract from how they’ve terribly screwed up our economy.
Last night was yet another step in Trump’s long, ongoing effort to undermine our elections. His lies won’t change the facts: Michigan’s elections are free, fair and secure.

Michigan is under a statewide air quality alert through Friday due to hazardous wildfire smoke.
Conditions are currently among the worst in the world, so please prioritize staying indoors, keeping windows closed, and running your AC with a high-quality filter. Avoid strenuous outdoor activities and check on neighbors or loved ones who may be sensitive to the poor air.

Everyone in Michigan knows our roads need fixing, and this budget continues that work by adding over $52 million dollars for state and local roads and bridges. But fixing our infrastructure means investing in the whole system, not just asphalt.
We secured a $123.8 million-dollar boost for transit and rail programs, including a major increase for local bus operations. Reliable transit means parents get to work on time, seniors keep their independence, and we build communities that actually connect people.
This is a long-overdue investment in the people who build and use our infrastructure every day.

Public parks are the heart of our neighborhoods. Today, we cut the ribbon on the new Bicentennial Park splash pad to give our community's kids a great place to stay cool this summer. Grateful to the local officials and Parks Department staff who brought this project across the finish line. Stop by, bring the kids, and maybe stand back from the water bucket unless you’re looking to get drenched.
