House Dems will not bail Republicans out on a bad, last-minute budget. This isn't just bad policy.
The House Republicans' budget will hurt and harm seniors, families, moms, and farmers.
Michiganders deserve a responsible, transparent budget process-not political games and backroom deals.
Democrats are fighting for a budget that feeds families, funds schools, protects health care & lowers costs. Michigan deserves leaders who put people first.

105 years ago, the 19th Amendment moved us closer to dignity, fairness & equality. The 19th Amendment was a milestone, but not the finish line.
From suffrage to pay equity to reproductive freedom — our fight for equality continues. Today, we celebrate progress and remember that the fight for voting rights & women’s freedoms continues.

I have heard from constituents about difficulty putting food on the table. As food costs continue to skyrocket, I want to make sure you are aware of the many food groups and resources available that aim to alleviate and assist with these high costs. The following organizations and entities are going to bat for you!

-Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels: Delivers fresh, prepared meals to homebound individuals with health & medical conditions. (734) 487-9669
-Growing Hope: Operates Ypsilanti farmers market, runs youth and adult garden and cooking programs. (734) 786-8401
-Swoop’s Pantry: EMU student food pantry, toiletries, and more. (734) 487-4173
-Department of Health and Human Services - Washtenaw County. (734) 481-2000
-Food Gatherers - Food pantry and meal program lists. (734) 761-2796
-Jewish Family Services of Washtenaw County: Specialty food pantry with emphasis on dietary or religious restrictions & prepared meals for those who qualify. (734) 769-0209
-The Salvation Army - Ann Arbor: Limited meals and monthly shelf stable food giveaway. (734) 668-8353
-SOS Community Services: Food pantry offering fresh food, formula, and personal care items. (734) 484-9945
-Catholic Social Services Northside Food Pantry: Food assistance for low-income individuals and families. (734) 662-4462
-Bryant Community Center - Food pantry program. (734) 477-0292
-St. Andrew’s Church: Free daily breakfast. (734) 663-0518
-Calvary Bible Church - Food pantry.

-Corner Health Center: Pantry for patients and limited access for young community members and their children. (734) 484-3600

I am also fighting to increase access to food in Lansing. Last month, I cosponsored House Resolution 143, which urged Congress to “pursue policies that fully fund Medicaid, SNAP and WIC.” This spring, I cosponsored House Bill 4247, which would create an income tax credit for donations to certain charities that provide food or meals to community members. SNAP, WIC, food banks, soup kitchens and similar organizations are hugely important to families, and legislators should do all we can to support them. Neither bill has moved out of the Republican-led committees they were referred to. I will keep you posted on further developments.

It’s back to school season, however this year is different. Republicans in D.C. and right here in Michigan are increasing your costs during back-to-school season and beyond.
Tariffs are costing hardworking families by raising the prices of everyday necessities, and causing teachers to pay more for educational classroom items.
Michigan House Republicans have also failed to negotiate and pass a final budget, leaving Michigan’s school districts in limbo.
Every child, regardless of background, deserves to be set up for success. House Democrats are in your corner. We won’t stop advocating for investments in schools and funding for our kids!
