Despite House Republicans trying to hijack the proposal instead of letting voters decide, the people won. This measure stops utilities like DTE and big state contractors from buying influence in our elections.

It was an honor to attend the 30th Annual Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce of Detroit Gala tonight and celebrate the incredible contributions of the Taiwanese community here in Michigan.
I was proud to join other state legislators, along with Director General Dennis Yen-Feng Lei of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Chicago (Taiwan in Chicago), for this special evening.
Our state House district is incredibly diverse, and that diversity makes our communities stronger. Taiwan is also an important economic partner for Michigan, with more than $285 million in Michigan goods exported to Taiwan in 2025. As a member of the bipartisan Friends of Taiwan Caucus, I’m proud to continue strengthening these important ties. 🇺🇸🇹🇼

It was great to join Mayor Lori Stone, Council Members Mindy Moore, Jonathan Lafferty and Dave Dwyer, and Fitzgerald School Board members Judy Furgal and Khaja Shahab Ahmed for Operation Back 2 School, hosted by the Warren Police Department.
There’s nothing better than seeing our community come together to make sure local kids have what they need to start the school year off right. Proud to be part of it! Thank you to everyone who came together to make this event successful!

Had a great time checking out the Hazel Park Art Fair at Green Acres Park today! It was wonderful seeing so many talented local artists, neighbors, and families come together to celebrate creativity and community. Goes until 5 PM today! Mental healthcare access has always been personal to me. That is why I stood with mental health professionals from across Michigan yesterday to push back against Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan's planned policy changes.
As our state’s largest insurer, these changes risk disrupting care for thousands of Michiganders, uprooting trusted provider relationships, and worsening an already critical mental healthcare workforce shortage.
I have made expablnding access to mental healthcare a top priority in Lansing, and I refuse to sit back while new roadblocks are put in patients' ways. Michiganders deserve reliable access to the care they need from the professionals they know and trust. I will keep fighting for every patient, provider, and family in our state.

Today is National Senior Citizens Day!
Earlier this week, I was proud to partner with the Warren Crime Commission and Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido for a Senior Safety Event focused on helping older adults protect themselves from scams and financial exploitation.
This is also why my bipartisan legislation to regulate cryptocurrency kiosks is so important to me. We’ve seen scammers use these kiosks to target seniors and steal their hard-earned savings. Our seniors worked too hard to have their money taken from them by a scammer.
Protecting our seniors means standing up for them, and I’ll continue doing just that.

I was honored to join Michigan Senator Jim Runestad and Joseph Patrick McGill, 1st Honorary Consul of Ireland to Michigan, as a delegate to the American Irish State Legislators Caucus, taking us across both Ireland and Northern Ireland.
As the U.S. celebrates its 250th birthday, this trip was a powerful reminder of the deep historical roots and shared values connecting our two nations. During the visit, I had the privilege of meeting with former Prime Minister Bertie Ahern, whose historic leadership shaped the Good Friday Agreement peace process, as well as members of parliament and international business leaders.
I also had the distinct honor of meeting with U.S. Ambassador to Ireland Edward Walsh to discuss diplomatic and economic partnerships.
Ireland is the 5th-largest source of foreign direct investment in the U.S., with a staggering $389 billion invested here and over 780 Irish companies supporting upwards of 200,000 jobs across the country. Fostering these connections opens doors for further economic development, job creation, and bilateral collaboration between Michigan, Ireland, and Northern Ireland.
