May is Military Appreciation Month, a time to honor the service and sacrifice of those who have served our country. Thank you to all of our service members and veterans.
Supporting veterans also means making sure they have access to effective mental health treatment when they come home. That’s why I introduced HB 4686, legislation to decriminalize psilocybin for Michiganders diagnosed with PTSD, including our veterans.
Research continues to show promising results for psilocybin-assisted treatment in helping people living with PTSD, and we should be willing to explore every option that can help people heal.

It’s #TeacherAppreciationWeek in Michigan. Our teachers give their time, energy, and hearts to their students, often buying supplies with their own money and staying long hours to help kids succeed. Let’s thank them with more than words. Let’s fund our schools.
Each month, our office is proud to recognize a Teacher of the Month. If you’d like to nominate an outstanding educator in our community, please reach out to us at [email protected] or (517) 373-0140.

On International Firefighters’ Day, we recognize the courage and sacrifice of those who put their lives on the line to protect our communities.
That service can take a lasting toll. I introduced HB 5953 to help ensure firefighters facing PTSD have access to the mental health support they deserve.
We are grateful for their service and committed to standing with them.

As we recognize Police Week, earlier today I joined Mayor Lori M. Stone and Warren City Council Members Mindy Moore and Gary Boike at the Police Memorial Service hosted by the Warren Police Department at the Christopher M. Wouters FOP Lodge in Warren.
Today was an important opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made by the officers who gave their lives protecting our communities. Hearing their stories and standing alongside their loved ones and fellow officers was incredibly meaningful.
Thank you to the men and women in law enforcement who put on the badge every day and serve our communities with courage and dedication. We will never forget those we have lost. ... See MoreSee Less
