In Michigan, progress is being made to reduce new HIV transmissions through vital legislation. Last year, I introduced House Bill 5340, which would ensure access to pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). PrEP is a proven tool in HIV prevention, reducing the risk of transmission by up to 99%. As we observe World AIDS Day, this bill represents a critical step in both protecting public health and ensuring equitable access to preventive care.
