I was recently invited up north to Roscommon by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to take an aerial tour of the ice-storm damage that slammed the region earlier this year. Flying over acres of bent, broken, and dead trees was eye-opening, and the long-term impact on the area is very real. I also had the chance to learn more about how we monitor for forest fires and the work being done to keep our communities safe.
