Happy Labor Day, Michigan! 👷♂️👩🌾👨🏭👨🚒👨🔧👩🔬🧑✈️👷♂️🧑⚕️👨🏫🧑💻
On Labor Day we celebrate the power of workers and unions. And we honor what that power earned for working Americans in the past, present, and future.
In the past, organized labor won better wages, health benefits for families, workplace safety, the 40-hour work week, paid holidays, and so much more.
In the future, we need to do everything we can to grow unions so Americans can take on gross wealth inequality, earn the wages they deserve, and curb the political power of the oligarchs and billionaires.
As your State Representative and next State Senator, I pledge to continue the struggle for workers’ rights and protections and to honor the dignity of work. 💪

As we wrap up our first week of school I want to wish students, teachers and parents the best of luck with the rest of the school year. I have been spending my time in Lansing fighting to keep costs low for our families, especially when it comes to sending a child to school. Unfortunately, House Republicans have decided that it is more important to leave schools in the dark on funding. The cost of sending your child to school, attending college, or being a teacher have dramatically risen. Let’s do better for our Michiganders. ... See MoreSee Less

Sixty years ago, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed Medicare and Medicaid into law, creating two pillars of the American healthcare system.
Since then, these programs have helped ensure that millions of older adults, children, people with disabilities, and low-income families can get the care they need.
The legacy of Medicare and Medicaid is clear and powerful: no one should be denied healthcare because of who they are or what they earn.
