When legislation came before the Michigan House to provide tax incentives for large-scale data centers, I voted NO.
Over the past several months, I've heard from residents throughout our district who are concerned about the impact these projects could have on energy demand, water resources, infrastructure, land use, and the character of their communities.
I believe local communities deserve a meaningful voice about large-scale projects that can significantly impact energy demand, water resources, infrastructure, land use, and quality of life.
That's why I've introduced and supported legislation to strengthen transparency, public input, environmental protections, cybersecurity, and accountability surrounding data center development.
I respect that people may see this issue differently, but I believe my responsibility is to put our communities first and ensure residents have a seat at the table when decisions of this magnitude are being made.

A big win for Michigan farmers!
Early in my first term, I sat down with local farmers and asked them what challenges they were facing. One issue came up again and again: Right to Repair.
Those conversations led me to spend months working on legislation to give farmers greater access to the tools and software needed to repair their own equipment. While that effort ultimately did not make it across the finish line, I never stopped believing it was the right thing to do.
Today's Right to Repair settlement is a major step forward. It means lower costs, fewer delays during planting and harvest, and more freedom for farmers to keep Michigan agriculture moving forward. This is a win for Michigan farmers, a win for common sense, and a reminder that good ideas are worth fighting for.

This morning around 9am, we passed the budget for FY ‘26-’27. While this year's budget wasn't perfect, we fought to protect funding for the programs Michiganders rely on. This balanced budget protects Medicaid, and SNAP, will help lower housing costs, and includes funding for universal school meals while increasing per-pupil funding for our students. Even though we were facing a $1B budget shortfall, this plan moves Michigan in the right direction and keeps Michigan moving in the right direction. ... See MoreSee Less
