Last week, my office toured the Michigan Task Force 1’s Urban Search and Rescue facility in Holly.

Our team got to see firsthand the training, equipment, and preparation that goes into being ready for the moments when communities need help the most.

MI-TF1 is called upon when a disaster overwhelms local resources. Their teams have the specialized skills and equipment to search for and rescue people and support communities during some of the most dangerous situations imaginable.

What we learned made the decision in the most recent state budget to reduce state funding for MI-TF1 to $0 even more concerning. We cannot afford to wait for a disaster to find out whether our emergency response teams have the resources they need.

Since learning about the funding cut, I have been working with colleagues on both sides of the aisle and with state and local fire officials to advocate for restoring this funding.

MI-TF1 trains for the moments none of us ever want to experience. They need to know that when we call for help, they have the resources to answer.

I will continue pushing to restore funding for this critical emergency response team and make sure Michigan is prepared when our communities need help the most.

Residents rely on their city councils, township boards and village boards to make decisions that directly affect their communities and everyday lives. When elected officials routinely fail to attend meetings, residents aren't getting the representation they deserve.

This week, I introduced a package of bills to hold local officials accountable when they fail to meet their basic responsibility to regularly attend the meetings for which they were elected.

If you choose to serve your community, you have a responsibility to show up, participate, and do the job you were elected to do.

Our communities deserve leaders who show up.

I had a great time today at the Monroe County Fair! It's always a great time celebrating our hardworking farmers, local businesses, and 4-H youth, and enjoying one of our community's favorite traditions. I also ran into my colleague from Monroe, Rep. Will Bruck. Thank you to everyone who works so hard each year to put on this great event. ... See MoreSee Less

Thank you to the organizers and speakers for hosting last night's community conversation in Augusta on hyperscale data centers.

I appreciated the opportunity to join residents, local leaders, and subject matter experts for an important discussion about these projects and what they mean for Michigan communities.

As I've continued my work on data center policy in the Legislature, conversations like this are invaluable. Hearing directly from residents, local officials, and experts helps ensure that our approach is informed, transparent, and grounded in the needs of the communities that will be most affected.

It was encouraging to see so many people engaged and asking thoughtful questions. Public participation is essential when decisions have lasting impacts on our infrastructure, natural resources, local economies, and quality of life.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to such a meaningful discussion.
