I attended Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s seventh State of the State Address before a joint legislative session with my guest, DPSCD School Board Member LaTrice McClendon.

I was thrilled the Governor made expanding affordable childcare a priority in the address. When we invest in childcare, we invest in the foundation of our communities — which is our families. Every working parent deserves the peace of mind that their children are cared for in a safe, nurturing environment while they pursue opportunities to build a better future.

Love is the work, and that means ensuring that every Michigander — no matter their zip code — has access to the support they need to thrive.

I attended Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s seventh State of the State Address before a joint legislative session with my guest, DPSCD School Board Member LaTrice McClendon.

I was thrilled the Governor made expanding affordable childcare a priority in the address. When we invest in childcare, we invest in the foundation of our communities — which is our families. Every working parent deserves the peace of mind that their children are cared for in a safe, nurturing environment while they pursue opportunities to build a better future.
