Last week Veronica Paiz, MI State Representative and I dropped our Microplastics bills. Microplastics have been discovered throughout the human body; plastics are known human carcinogens and ingested over long periods can be cancer-causing. The issue is escalating, and states must take steps to advance study and response to microplastics in water.
My bill 6163 mandates the development of a comprehensive statewide microplastics research and monitoring plan to assess the impacts of microplastics on the Great Lakes and drinking water.
Her bill 6164 establishes a microplastics monitoring program to assess the presence and potential risks of microplastics in Michigan’s public drinking water supplies, including sources like the Great Lakes and groundwater.

McDonald’s of Michigan owner/operator Yusef Alcodray invited me and Harper Woods Mayor to participate this past Tuesday in their annual turkey giveaway at their Harper Woods restaurant on Vernier. This occasion provided Thanksgiving turkeys to local families. I have to applaud @mcdonalds for their community support. 👏🏼👏🏼 This holiday season they are offering good cheer by distributing 27,000 (!!!) turkeys 🦃 to Michigan families throughout the state. I’m lovin’ it! [Pictured here with McDonalds representative and the mayor.] #strongertogether💯 ... See MoreSee Less

Ms. Paiz, Please vote NO on bill 6068. Stop the overreach on kids, learn where parental guidance and rights are compared to the constant overstepping. The bill pushes trans agenda, waives clergy involvement, gives kids contraceptives behind their parent’s back, teaches masturbation and calls abortion “family planning”. There’s a reason most everything went red— this will lead to a mass exodus from MI public schools
Our children can’t even read with 3rd grade Mstep scores as all time low, but sure let’s feed them birth control at school and teach them gender ideology as priority with bills such as 6068

Our local libraries have seen an uptick in calls for book bans. State Representative Carol Glanville and I have introduced bills to give librarians much-needed tools to address library policy and protect librarians and employees. This censorship, by and large, impacts our youth of color and those who belong to the LGBTQ+ community; these bills would offer the same protections that you would get under the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act. Libraries deserve to have a say in the information they provide for their communities. ... See MoreSee Less
