Entrepreneurs and innovators help drive Michigan’s economy. Supporting them—from startup to scale-up—is essential to the long-term health of our state. Last term, I worked with colleagues on a bipartisan package that made the single largest investment in Michigan’s innovation ecosystem, delivering nearly $100 million in new seed capital for startups across the state.

I sat down with my colleagues from the Michigan House, Mayor Duggan, law enforcement leaders, and community organizations from across Southeast Michigan to talk about the importance of creating a Public Safety Trust Fund. A package I was proud to help author last term, and reintroduce with my colleagues to get done now.
Public safety is a commonsense issue—and we need to be proactive about addressing its root causes. That’s why I’m proud this package includes record investments in prevention services and gives cities the flexibility to develop their own strategies to reduce violent crime.
By working together, we can make our neighborhoods safer, ensure people get the support they need, and stop violent crime before it starts.
Fordson Cares! In memory of Hajj Ibrahim “Juice” Baydoun, the Dearborn and Dearborn Heights communities came together for a special volleyball game to celebrate his life and raise money for charity.
Thank you to William Ali and all the organizers for bringing our communities together through sports and service.
Wrapping up March is reading month, it was great to visit all of our great schools and wonderful teachers. The more we can encourage strong reading habits in our students the better off they will be in the future.
I’m honored to continue serving the residents of the 3rd District in Lansing. This term, I’m proud to serve as the Minority Vice Chair of the House Appropriations Committee, where I’ll fight to ensure the programs and services our communities rely on remain fully funded.
