This #FAFSAFriday, let's talk about MI Reconnect: You might qualify for the MI Reconnect scholarship if you're at least 21 and haven't completed a college degree yet. While I admire that there is this protection in place, it also weighs heavy on me that our schools need this protection. I remember the day my kiddo graduated from Skyline High School a couple years ago...I breathed a sigh of relief that they didn't have to experience a traumatic event while in public school. I have a difficult time understanding how other first-world countries don't have these major issues, and the U.S. lags significantly in gun safety protocols. It is unconscionable that our Congress cannot, will not, do better. Will it take the murder of a child or grandchild of one of our U.S. Senators to put national gun-sense laws into place? "Thoughts and prayers" do not keep lethal weapons out of the hands of people who should not have access. It truly is mind boggling that money is more powerful than the gift of life. Jason, I am grateful for your public service. Thank you for all you do!!

Blue states, including Michigan, know how to care for our kids. We are one of eight states that have passed universal breakfast and lunches for public school kids because we know that they are our future and they can’t learn on an empty stomach. #PuttingPeopleFirst ... See MoreSee Less

Michigan was also shown in Last Week Tonight with John Oliver recently. So happy my first grader is getting breakfast every morning at school. She definitely appreciates it! 😄💙 youtu.be/-YypArYDcjA?si=c1SrBuG-qnoASTLq
