I stopped by Educate Youth here in Ypsilanti to learn about some of the great afterschool programing available for our children.
Giving our kids opportunities to learn and grow while having fun is so important!
Thank you Educate Youth for inviting me to share in the experience!

Last week, the Trump administration opted to cancel funding for legal representation of unaccompanied minors who entered the United States.
This decision has revoked more than $200 Million from non-profit law organizations. It has also left over 26,000 children to face immigration court alone, leaving them vulnerable to deportation.
U.S. District Judge Araceli Martínez-Olguín of San Francisco has granted a temporary restraining order against this decision until April 16th.
This decision is inhumane and will result in disastrous outcomes for thousands of innocent children.

This week, several pieces of democratic legislation take effect, including labor and workforce development. Putting people and policy first is what matters!
Young workers deserve strong protections, and veterans should have easy access to the benefits they’ve earned.
Our new laws will strengthen child labor oversight and require workplaces to share veteran benefit information, ensuring fairness and opportunity for all.
No young worker should be exploited, and no veteran should struggle to find the benefits they’ve earned.
I'm happy to see new laws go into effect that help build a stronger, fairer future for workers and veterans alike.

Today is International Transgender Day of Visibility!
The great Martin Luther King, Jr. stated “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality.”
These are the words I reflect on as we see our neighbors and children being ostracized as political pawns. Please keep a helpful eye out for some of the most vulnerable people in our society, and if you see injustice, speak out and act against it!
