It was wonderful to catch up with the Detroit Parent Network during their capitol day visit to Lansing! 💙
@dpndetroit empowers parents to become leaders in their children’s education and advocates for change. Their work in literacy, workforce development, and parent training is helping families and futures thrive. They have been working with parents in GR over the last year as well and Im looking forward to seeing the impact.
Thank you for all you do!

HB 5557 requires that community master plans include an analysis of current housing needs and a projection of the type and amount of housing needed over the life of the plan.
This ensures that local communities prioritize housing and recognize it as a fundamental need every resident deserves access to. By planning proactively for a diverse range of housing types, price points, and sufficient supply, we can reduce costs and address the housing shortage.
The goal, as always, is housing for all.

Before state house I was a proud school board member. One of my favorite things to do was visit Gerald R Ford Job Corps center. I would attend the lunches put on by students, their graduations, etc. I was always amazed at the level of excellence these young people performed at.
Now as state representative it’s been my honor to support them at another level- and it’s broken my heart to see what is happening to them now. 112 students in Grand Rapids and 12,000 around the country are being displaced. 15 of our babies locally are facing homelessness. This is not ok, it’s not how you treat people who have dedicated their lives to service.
Job Corps changes lives, changes communities, and has had an immense impact on our country. For weeks I have been meeting with the local team to lay out strategy. Today my office shared this letter signed by 35 of my colleagues.
We will continue to work to save this program, and to create a landing place for our students. Join us!

Visiting Sheldon House to help them kick off their Week of Action was awesome!
It was great to meet members and learn how they are building meaningful lives through the community and work done at the Clubhouse. Their work in community based mental health care is transformational and creates a space where recovery is possible for everyone.

Being named as a Michigan Women’s Foundation 2025 Woman to Watch is such an honor. It was even more meaningful to be named with so many other women who are working to change our community for the better each day. Thank you to the foundation for all of the amazing work you do to make sure women in business have the resources and support they need to succeed. Congrats to everyone who was honored this year!

It’s always a great time when my GRPS family comes to see me at the Capitol. My work on the GRPS school board was my first introduction to true policy impact and advocacy. Thank you all for continuing to advocate for our scholars not only in GR, but around the state! It was a pleasure to meet with Grand Rapids Public Schools during their advocacy day at the Capitol.
Thank you for your continued commitment to education, equity, and excellence.

The Missing and Murdered Indigenous People (MMIP) March was a powerful event raising awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous People, a crisis that continues to deeply affect Indigenous families here in Michigan and across the country.
The march is hosted by the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi, Pokagon Band, and Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band.
The event included Indigenous ceremonies, and a march through downtown to honor those who have been lost and call for justice, healing, and systemic change. Thank you so much for all the work that went into this event and educating our community ❤️
