I was honored to join the Michigan Kachin Baptist Church as they celebrated the dedication of their new worship space here in Grand Rapids.

The Kachin community's story is one of courage, faith, perseverance, and hope. Many families came to the United States seeking safety and opportunity, and through hard work and determination, they have built strong families, thriving communities, and now a permanent home for worship and fellowship.

Our city is stronger because of the many cultures, traditions, and experiences that make Grand Rapids such a vibrant place to call home. I am grateful for the opportunity to celebrate this milestone and to recognize the faith, generosity, and commitment that continue to strengthen our community.

Congratulations to the Michigan Kachin Baptist Church on this special day, and thank you for all you do to make Grand Rapids a welcoming and vibrant place for everyone!

Housing affordability remains one of the biggest challenges facing communities across Michigan, and we have to use every single tool available to address it.

That’s why I’m proud to sponsor House Bill 5806, which establishes and administers a state-level tax credit program to help keep new construction affordable while preserving and upgrading existing affordable housing. This is a practical, proven tool that helps move projects from concept to construction and makes every investment go further.

I'm incredibly proud that today this bill passed the House. While there is still work ahead, this is an important step toward making housing more affordable for Michigan families.

There is still more work to do, but we cannot afford to stand still while housing costs continue to rise and the shortage of affordable homes grows. Every Michigander deserves access to safe, stable, and affordable housing.

Happy Pride Month! 🌈

I’m so proud to represent a place where we celebrate our diversity and welcome all. It’s our strength!

We took a stroll around the neighborhood and loved all the pride that’s shown, not just in June but everyday! The spirit of Pride—love, belonging, and embracing one another for who we are—is part of what makes this community so beautiful all year long. It's reflected in the local businesses that proudly support their neighbors and help create spaces where everyone can feel at home.

District 82 has Pride, and I'm proud to represent a community that believes everyone deserves to be seen, respected, and celebrated.

Happy Pride Month! ❤️🏳️‍🌈

Yesterday was a CELEBRATION! With so many hard things happening in the world It is a huge moment every time we can celebrate some good. Announcing the launch of RX Kids in 49507 is beyond good- it is amazing!

RX Kids is a direct cash support program where expecting mothers can benefit from 6 months of monthly $500 cash support after the birth of their baby and a one time $1500 payment .

This program is a lifeline for expecting mothers who are working to give their babies and families a stable foundation to grow. We know that the beginning of a child’s life sets the trajectory for their future. It is also sometimes the most difficult time for families to navigate. 49507 is the focus because we know this is a zip code where resources are the hardest to access in Kent County.

Giving mothers and families room to breathe and care for their child is incredibly important. Data for this program shows that families see improved housing stability, increased food access, more access to healthcare, higher birth rate outcomes for babies, and much more.

Programs like this transform not only through household, but also entire communities which uplifts us all!
