Housing matters for ALL. That’s why the work that ayayouthcollective does to protect vulnerable teens and young adults is so important. If we can help them learn skills and become stable at a young age, it will set them on a path for success in the future. It was amazing to help secure funding for housing specifically for homeless youth alongside Senator Winnie Brinks. The work AYA does is benefiting our entire community! ... See MoreSee Less

The Grand Rapids African American Museum is such a staple in our community as they share the history and stories that shape our city. It was a pleasure to join them as they honored Ms. Minnie Forbes, the last living owner of a Negro League baseball team. She is truly a legend living among us!

Although these bills did not make it out of the house this session I wanted to share the floor speech that was given. She was also a founding member of the Michigan Black Legislative Caucus and a mentor to many of its early members. ... See MoreSee Less

Hi everyone! I have good and bad news to share with you. The good is that we are still hard at work in Lansing––the bad is this means I need to postpone tomorrow’s Community Conversation until next year.
I know you all were looking forward to discussing our goals for the next legislative cycle. However, there is still more work to be done in Lansing this year and I am making the most of the time we have left to ensure our priorities get passed into law! Apologies for the inconvenience but I hope to see you soon. Happy Holidays!
