I am proud to look back on helping pass the Working Families Tax Credit here in Michigan. This bill increased Michigan's match of the Earned Income Tax Credit from 6% to 30%! This week is National School Bus Safety week. A majority of bus related deaths and injuries involve pedestrians when they are exiting the bus to cross traffic.
That is why my colleagues and I have worked toward passage of a package of bills to reinforce school bus safety in Michigan. Including my bill, House Bill 4928.
This clip below shows how states across the nation are already using similar legislation to make school bus travel safer. We hope to use these measures to hold violators accountable for dangerous actions and provide peace of mind to parents, and students that take the bus.
