The agriculture industry is crucial to the success of our state’s economy. It takes dedication, resilience and hard work to run a farm, manage land and contribute to a food system that sustains communities across Michigan and beyond. Additionally, many families rely on our local farmers for the food they need. That’s why it’s critical we support policies — like my resolution — that protect our farmland, invest in agricultural innovation and ensure the next generation of farmers has the tools and resources they need to succeed. Our future depends on it.

Today is Michigan Library Advocacy Day at the Capitol! I spoke with library workers from Monroe County Library System and got to check out their bookmobile and the Library of Things!

The 34th District Court is inviting the public to the 4th Annual "Community Day at the Court” on Thursday, May 1st, 2025 from 9:00am to 2:00pm🎈
In addition to tours of the facility, attendees at Community Day can enjoy a car show, food trucks, public safety demonstrations, pet adoptions and more. Some of the community resources on site will include: Michigan Youth Challenge Academy, Growth Works, Wayne Metro Community Action Agency, Romulus Christian Ministerial Alliance, Kroger, Hegira Health, Inc. Share Detroit, and MCHS Family of Services.

Today, we honor the life and legacy of Pope Francis, a true man for others, as he is laid to rest. Pope Francis believed in a Catholic Church that welcomed everyone, and dedicated his life to serving the poor. Many referred to him as “the People’s Pope” due to his breaking of traditions, instead opting for a more humble lifestyle and consistent meetings with members of the public. Today, and every day, let us honor his legacy through service and kindness towards our neighbors.

Everyone deserves access to the medication they need without having to choose between filling a prescription or paying their bills. The Prescription Drug Affordability Board is a step toward putting people over pharmaceutical profits and making sure lifesaving prescriptions are fairly priced.
