Monday is Memorial Day when we honor those military men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our country and freedom.
In House District 16, there are two opportunities to honor these heroes. In Livonia, a ceremony begins on Saturday at 8 a.m. with coffee at the Senior Center. The ceremony begins at 9 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Plaza at the corner of Five Mile and Farmington Roads.
In Redford Township, VFW Post 345 will host a moving ceremony on Monday at 6 p.m. at the Veterans Park in the municipal complex at 15145 Beech Daly.

This month’s recent Community Conversation focused on May being National Mental Health Awareness month. There were so many good resources shared by our special guests, so I’m putting together a special post for you.
Here are the two resources mentioned on the call from the WCCC District. First, the Neighborhood Wellness Center, located in the district offers FREE preventative care in the community, three days a week. See the flyer below for the hours and contact information to get your FREE check-up for blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes — and more!
The other resource mentioned at the Community Conversations is the Dental Hygiene Clinic which charges a nominal fee for your services: Adults and children pay $10. Services include a complete medical and dental history assessment, whitening, cleaning and polishing plus much more.
These are two great resources right in our community to help support your overall health.
