It was great to meet with the Michigan Professional Fire Fighters Union earlier this week in Lansing! These hard-working men and women put themselves on the line for our communities day after day, and I’m proud to stand with them and support policies to get the critical resources they need. ... House Democrats first funded Rx Kids in the 2024 state budget because families deserve support, not impossible choices.
From Muskegon to Flint to the U.P., Rx Kids is growing thanks to continued investment in families. Helping parents afford the basics and keeping kids healthy isn’t radical.

Busy week in Lansing! It’s always an honor to host constituents and advocates at the Capitol to share stories and push for the changes our community deserves.
It was great to connect with the Washtenaw County Office of Community & Economic Development to talk about the vital work they do, from senior meal programs to weatherization services.
I also sat down with local advocates for Cancer Action Day to discuss our shared priorities in the fight against cancer.
During the Sierra Club’s lobby day, we dug into how we can build a greener future through community solar and responsible energy policy.
Finally, I was grateful to meet with LGBTQ+ constituents and allies to talk about protecting transgender health care and ensuring every person in our state can live with dignity.
These conversations are exactly how we build a Michigan that works for everyone. Thank you to everyone who made the trip to share your voice!

The 187-acre Concordia property is one of the last large pieces of open land in Ann Arbor. How it’s used will shape our community for generations. That’s why I joined the Washtenaw County Legislative Delegation in urging the Board of Regents to reject U-M's proposed purchase.
If this land goes to the University, it stays permanently tax-exempt, shrinking our local tax base and shifting the financial burden onto everyday homeowners, renters, and small businesses. This poses a serious problem during an intense housing and cost-of-living crisis.
U-M is a valued institution, but we believe this is an irresponsible decision that disregards the needs of this community.
