When government relies on unrealistic projections to justify hiking taxes, taxpayers lose. I voted NO on the wholesale marijuana tax because myself and others foresaw the damage it would cause to a growing industry.
Now, the numbers are out: the state didn't even bring in a third of what was promised for our roads. Myself and other lawmakers called this from day one. We need real, sustainable solutions for Michigan—not failed tax hikes.

I’m happy to recognize Kozy Lounge as our May Business of the Month!
Each month, I highlight a local small business in our district that helps make our communities stronger, through community involvement, local investment, and taking pride in what they do. Kozy Lounge is a great example of that spirit right here in Hazel Park.
With a great selection of food and the kind of personal service you can only get from a local spot, Kozy Lounge makes sure every customer has a great experience. Be sure to check them out and support a great local business!

It was great to see two members of Warren Professional Firefighters Local 1383 in Lansing today for Firefighters Advocacy Day.
I also had the opportunity to meet with a firefighter from the Harper Woods Fire Department who is also a constituent. We talked about the challenges first responders face on the job, including mental health and PTSD. That's why I've been proud to work on bipartisan legislation to better support first responders dealing with PTSD and ensure they can access the care they need.
Thank you to all of our firefighters for everything you do to keep our communities safe and for advocating on behalf of firefighters across Michigan.

It was great to join UAW Region 1 for their annual Blessing of the Bikes in Warren. With warmer weather here, it's officially motorcycle season in Michigan!
As more riders hit the road, it's a good reminder for all of us to stay alert, look twice, and always watch for motorcycles while driving. Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable riding season ahead!
