Teaching the next generation of biology, neuroscience, and psychology majors how to effectively communicate science and bridge the gap between research and public policy is so important. Thank you for the opportunity and to the students for the great discussion!

I’m seeing a lot of people on social media upset about a longtime local small business closing, and trust me, I hate seeing our small businesses close, too. But I've also noticed how many comments say, “I haven’t been there in years,” or “I remember going there as a kid.” It’s sad to lose a place filled with memories, but nostalgia alone doesn’t keep the doors open.
If we want our local small businesses to survive, we have to support them while they’re still here. I know money is tight for a lot of people, and not everyone can afford to eat out or shop locally as often as they’d like. But when we can, choosing a local business makes a difference. None of us wants to see these businesses disappear, but they can’t survive on memories alone. Let’s show them how much they mean to us before we’re left saying how much we’ll miss them.

It was great to join Center Line City Council members and other community leaders this morning for the grand opening of PACE Southeast Michigan’s newest location right here in Center Line!
PACE provides incredible, all-inclusive care and support for older adults, helping them stay healthy, active, and connected in our community. Thrilled to see this important resource expand to serve more families in our State House District!

When a local independent pharmacy closes, it’s not just a business loss, it can create a healthcare desert for the community. Unfair reimbursement practices are threatening the neighborhood caregivers we depend on.
We need meaningful reform now to protect local pharmacies and ensure patients don’t lose access to their meds.

Keeping our communities safe means making sure our first responders have the tools and support they need, exactly when they need them. That’s why I’m so proud that the Governor signed my bipartisan legislation last week!
This new law officially recognizes MABAS Michigan Mutual Aid Box Alarm System vehicles as authorized emergency vehicles. MABAS is a vital statewide network that coordinates specialized fire, rescue, and EMS resources during major crises. This change ensures these critical teams can respond quickly and safely.
I want to extend a special thank you to my partner on this legislation, Representative Brian BeGole, for his hard work and dedication to getting this across the finish line. A huge win for public safety across our state!
