As the Chair of the Detroit Caucus, I was honored to help Rouge Park celebrate a century as Detroit’s largest and most natural park with a Legislative Tribute from the Detroit Caucus. Over the years, Rouge Park rivaled Belle Isle in popularity with 1,200 acres of woodlands, wetlands, and recreation that’s been loved for generations, becoming a beloved place for families, adventurers, and nature lovers alike.
At the start of a new century, Rouge Park is experiencing a powerful resurgence—with new bike lanes, picnic shelters, restored trails, and a new recreation center opening in 2026.

We know it can be tough to make healthy meals for children and teens that fit your budget. That’s why community sites such as libraries, YMCAs, community centers, and school districts in your area are providing children ages 18 and under with delicious, nutritious meals this summer. Go to the link and type in your address to find the nearest location.

I was honored to be asked to speak at the Charles W. Reid Community Help Center’s 5th Annual Anti-Gun Violence March & Rally. We are losing far too many lives because we have allowed gun violence to become normal. But it is not normal, and it is not inevitable.
We need real change. That means real legislation like red flag laws, passed last year here in Michigan, and banning assault weapons, because weapons of war have no place in our neighborhoods.

I spoke at a press conference with the Michigan Legislative Black Caucus (MLBC) in support of Colonel James Grady, Director of the Michigan State Police (MSP). Col. Grady is a highly decorated state police colonel with nearly three decades of service to this state. He inherited a department that has had issues for years prior to his appointment He's only been In this position for less than 18 months, but he has been expected in that short amount of time to fix problems that were years in the making. #Grace #Accountability ...
