House bill 4090 will provide the city of detroit with the ability to fully operate and staff the DDC and frees up MDOC personnel to assist in other areas of the state. It is a win-win situation for all.

Earlier this year I was named economic development champion of the year. We need to be doing all that we can to bring good paying jobs, and new investment to our state.

For the past three years, I’ve organized a bipartisan charity softball game alongside my colleague Rep. Tom Kunse. This year’s charity was Leader Dogs for the Blind, a non-profit that helps provide service animals to those that need them, free of charge. I appreciate each of my colleagues who participated and all those who donated to this important cause. I look forward to hosting this event again next year!

Wrapping up session for today, but wanted to talk about the work we’ve done to expand access to transit. We want a transit system that works for everyone so they can get to work, school, or anywhere else they need to get to.

Medicaid saves the state hundreds of millions of dollars annually, primarily benefiting young children and women. However, the same playbook employed in Washington, D.C., cutting life-saving programs to fund tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy, is being implemented right here in Lansing. We cannot let it happen.
