Governor Whitmer has signed my bipartisan Ground Emergency Medical Transport (GEMT) legislation into law! This bill ensures that municipal EMS providers are fairly reimbursed for life-saving services, bringing in more federal dollars to support local fire departments and ambulance services. By easing financial pressures, we’re helping first responders stay focused on what they do best—saving lives. A huge thank you to the Michigan Association of Fire Chiefs -MAFC, the Michigan Municipal League, and the Michigan Townships Association for their support. And special thanks to Chief Edmonds of Sterling Heights, Captain Dwyer of Madison Heights, and Deputy Commissioner Derek Hillman of Detroit for their invaluable help in getting this legislation across the finish line! This is a big win for Michigan’s first responders and the communities they serve! ... See MoreSee Less
