This morning I was proud to march in Detroit’s Labor Day Parade with the incredible nurses from McLaren-Macomb OPEIU Local 40. Coming from a proud UAW family, I know how much unions have done to lift up working people. Labor Day is a reminder of how far we’ve come thanks to organized labor, and why we have to keep standing and fighting for rights together.
Thank you to the parade organizers and everyone who came out to celebrate and show support for working people!

Earlier this month I had the chance to attend Northern Strike at Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center, one of the largest National Guard training exercises in the country, where U.S. and allied forces train together to strengthen readiness for real-world missions.
I was honored to meet with members of our Michigan National Guard, speak with British troops training alongside them, ride in a Chinook helicopter, and even try an MRE for lunch (beef stew — honestly better than I thought it would be!).
Thank you to everyone who makes this training possible, and for the invitation to see the incredible work our Michigan National Guard members do to keep us safe. 🇺🇸

Earlier this month, I had the chance to join the City of Warren Police Department at their Scenario House and take part in a police tactical demonstration. Experiencing the training up close really opened my eyes to the tough, split-second decisions officers have to make to keep themselves and the public safe. I’m grateful to the department for giving me this opportunity to learn more about the challenges they face and the importance of their training.

I’m excited to recognize Michigan Roots Artisan Shoppe in Madison Heights as our August Business of the Month! We just received the * 78 billion dollar * Republican House budget and it's going up for a vote in 1 hour. It’s 800 pages 🙄 More political games. For reference, last year when Democrats were in control we gave them 48 hours to review it prior to a vote. ... See MoreSee Less

I hear from too many families in our district struggling to get coverage for mental health and addiction treatment. Too often, insurance companies wrongfully deny Michiganders the care they need. That must change.
Thank you to Matthew Bierlein - State Representative for supporting my bipartisan "Fair Standards in Mental Health Care" legislation to end harmful denials and make sure people get the care they deserve.
