HAZEL PARK, Mich., Sept. 25, 2023 — Last week, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced the distribution of blight elimination grants from the fiscal 2023-24 budget to more than 40 county land banks and municipalities across Michigan. Two of the recipients were the Detroit Land Bank, receiving more than $990,000, and the Oakland County Land Bank, receiving more than $552,000. State Rep. Mike McFall (D-Hazel Park) responded to the awards with the following statement:

“Land banks are important tools to help spur development, reduce blight and associated crime, and make our communities better places to live and work. With track records of helping create opportunities for individuals and businesses in the region, the Detroit and Oakland land banks have truly earned this funding. I look forward to the further growth they will enable.”
