I testified before the House Labor and Economic Opportunity Appropriations Subcommittee in support of a Legislatively Directed Spending Item (LDSI) request for $3 million for Brillant Detroit. I was joined by Cindy Eggleton, with Brilliant Detroit.
I was proud to lift up is Brilliant Detroit’s investment to expand their comprehensive place-based literacy initiative across Southeast Michigan. I testified before the House Labor and Economic Opportunity Appropriations Subcommittee in support of a Legislatively Directed Spending Item (LDSI) request for $550,000 for the Detroit Parks Coalition. I was joined virtually by Ritchie Harrison, representing Sidewalk Detroit, and Sigal Hemy.

Safe outdoor spaces like those maintained by the Detroit Parks Coalition are an important resource for Detroiters and the nearly 2 million visitors who come to the city. These parks allow people to enjoy nature safely while supporting the overall wellness and well-being that come from spending time outdoors.

I kicked off day two with another 10 meetings, more receptions, and a "Live from Mackinac" interview with one of my colleagues, Rep. Wooden, on Michigan House Democrats’ priorities.
