On Labor Day, we recognize that every good job is built on the backs of workers. Let’s fight for living wages, affordable health care, and the right to organize. Because when workers thrive, we all thrive.

House Democrats boosted workers by:
✓ Expanding the EITC
✓ Repealing the retirement tax
✓ Restoring union rights
Michigan workers deserve better. #LaborDay

My staff and I are looking forward to our favorite Labor Day activity, standing with workers and walking in the annual Detroit Labor Day Parade in Corktown. It proceeds down Michigan Avenue, starting at 6th St., and it concludes at Roosevelt Park with a brief program. This fun parade showcases the unity, power, and achievements of the labor movement and its workers.

The 19th Amendment was a milestone, but not the finish line. Many women of color waited decades for equal access to the ballot. On #WomensEqualityDay, we remember that the fight for voting rights & women’s freedoms continues. #LoveIsTheWork ... See MoreSee Less

As a Cass Tech Alumni and the Chair of the Detroit Caucus, I was honored to present a Legislative Tribute to the Cass Tech Class of 1975 on behalf of the caucus on the occasion of their 50th class reunion. The class had a week of activities, culminating with the Green and White picnic at beautiful Riverside Park.
