Michigan is already facing a mental health crisis, and the last thing we should be doing is making it harder for people to access care. We need to expand access to care, not put it at risk.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan's proposed changes could force patients to lose counselors they've built trusted relationships with and create new barriers for providers delivering mental health services across our state. Mental health care works best when people can access it consistently and without disruption.

Had a great time at the Madison Heights Arts & Pride Festival today! It was wonderful to see such a large crowd come together to celebrate art, community, and pride. I enjoyed connecting with so many neighbors, local artists, and families throughout. It was also great to see the mayor and several city council members in attendance, showing their support for this wonderful community event. Days like today are a great reminder of what makes Madison Heights such a welcoming and vibrant place. Happy Pride! 🏳️🌈 ... See MoreSee Less

Wonderful to stand alongside neighbors and community leaders at the annual Hazel Park Pride flag raising this morning! 🏳️🌈
Hazel Park has deep roots in LGBTQ+ history. It was the home of the brave couple whose case paved the way for nationwide marriage equality, represented by our now Attorney General Dana Nessel.
Love wins here. Proud to see Hazel Park continue to be a community where everyone belongs! Happy Pride!

When government relies on unrealistic projections to justify hiking taxes, taxpayers lose. I voted NO on the wholesale marijuana tax because myself and others foresaw the damage it would cause to a growing industry.
Now, the numbers are out: the state didn't even bring in a third of what was promised for our roads. Myself and other lawmakers called this from day one. We need real, sustainable solutions for Michigan—not failed tax hikes.

Just wrapped up two days at the Mental Health Policy Academy hosted by inseparable, a national organization dedicated to improving mental health care and ending the stigma surrounding mental illness. I joined a few of my fellow Michigan legislators and lawmakers from across the country to share ideas, learn from one another, and discuss what mental health policies are making a real difference, and which ones aren't.
Mental health has always been one of my top priorities, so I appreciated the opportunity to learn from states that are trying innovative approaches and bring those ideas back to Michigan. There’s still a lot of work to do, but conversations like these are an important step toward building a mental health system that works for everyone. ... See MoreSee Less

We pay some of the highest utility rates in the Midwest, yet we’re constantly left in the dark by frequent outages. When you're already struggling to pay for groceries, housing, and everyday necessities, another utility rate increase can be the difference between making ends meet and falling behind.

❤️🚨 URGENT FOSTER NEEDED🚨
When Bernadette arrived, we thought we knew her story.
Turns out, she was keeping a secret. 🩷🩵
Our sweet gentle St. Bernard is expecting puppies! Bernadette is due to deliver within the next week or two, and we are desperate to find a foster home before her puppies make their arrival.
While we were definitely surprised by the news, our goal now is making sure Bernadette has a safe, comfortable place to welcome and raise her babies. A shelter environment is far from ideal for a mama and newborn puppies.
We're looking for a foster who can care for Bernadette and her puppies until the puppies are 8 weeks old. Whelping experience is preferred, and Mom and puppies must be kept completely separated from all other pets in the home.
If you have the space, time, and ability to help this gentle giant through the next chapter of her journey, we'd love to hear from you.
⚠️ We are not accepting inquiries about adopting the puppies at this time. Our immediate priority is finding a foster home for Bernadette and her soon-to-arrive babies.
