LANSING, Mich., Jan. 25, 2022 — Today, General Motors announced a $7 billion investment in electric vehicle manufacturing in Michigan, including the construction of a new electric vehicle battery plant in Delta Township and a $4 billion investment in its Orion assembly plant that will together create more than 4,000 jobs. Both projects are part of GM’s effort to shift to 100% electric vehicle production by 2035. In response to the announcement, state Rep. Rachel Hood (D-Grand Rapids) issued the following statement celebrating the news:
