LANSING, Mich., Feb. 11, 2021 — State Rep. Jim Haadsma (D-Battle Creek) joined Michigan House Democrats in applauding the economic and education priorities outlined by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in her budget presentation to the Legislature Thursday.

The executive budget, which will now be reviewed by the Legislature, calls for significant increases in funding for economic recovery and education – marking the largest investment in K-12 schools in Michigan to date. In response, Rep. Haadsma issued the following statement:

“The governor’s budget recommendations focus on promoting healthy families and creating an economy that works for everyone as we continue to battle the pandemic. It also includes a record investment in our students and teachers – something that is long overdue. I look forward to working with Gov. Whitmer and my colleagues to accomplish these important goals.”
