LANSING, Mich. — Rep. Mari Manoogian (D-Birmingham), Minority Vice Chair of the House Committee on Energy, released the following statement ahead of President Joe Biden’s visit to Ford’s electric vehicle (EV) plant in Dearborn and the White House’s statement about the future of transportation and manufacturing:

“It is incredibly exciting to see President Biden walk the walk when it comes to supporting the folks who are manufacturing EV’s right here in Michigan,” said Rep. Manoogian. “This visit shows that the President is committed to building back better, which includes investing in the research and development of top-of-the-line technology, including EVs, batteries, and charging infrastructure, and creating good paying jobs in the advanced manufacturing sector.

“From providing point-of-sale incentives that encourage EV ownership, to utilizing brownfield grants to upgrade dormant factories so our communities become hubs for advanced manufacturing, to creating a public EV charging infrastructure so everyday folks can easily own an EV, President Biden’s American Jobs Plan supports the advancement of our domestic EV industry. I look forward to finding ways Michigan can continue its legacy of being a leader in the automotive industry as we shift into this new generation of vehicles.”

Rep. Mari Manoogian represents the communities of Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Bloomfield Township, and the eastern portion of West Bloomfield Township. In addition to serving as Deputy Whip for the Michigan House Democratic Caucus, she is also the Minority Vice Chair of the House Committee on Energy and is a member of the House Committee on Commerce and Tourism.
