LANSING – House Democratic Floor Leader Sam Singh (D-East Lansing) released the following statement after the U.S Supreme Court announced it will hear the DeBoer vs. Snyder case on same-sex marriage.
“I welcome the Supreme Court’s decision to hear Michigan’s same-sex marriage case. I am hopeful that the court will agree with Justice Friedman’s ruling from last year that banning same-sex marriage violates the United States Constitution. Equal protection under the law is a principle that must apply to all citizens of this country. I look forward to celebrating full marriage equality in all 50 states in the near future.”
