LANSING, Mich., Sept. 6, 2022 — State Rep. Tenisha Yancey (D-Harper Woods) presented awards to several outstanding Michigan women in labor roles at a community Labor Day event this weekend. Yancey is a longtime advocate of women in the work force and women’s rights. She has sponsored legislation to protect personal, civil and legal rights and by backing the interests of local labor organizations.
“I was absolutely honored to have the opportunity to present awards to such amazing women who help make our labor force strong and dynamic; they are all absolutely inspiring. It was also great to see the support of Michigan labor organizations — they too help strengthen the backbone of Michigan,” Yancey said. “Plus, the community got together to enjoy family and friends, while celebrating the holiday. I am proud to be a member of the Detroit community, a Michigander and a hard-working woman. In my role as state representative, I am dedicated to continually protecting workers’ rights, fostering equity and growing opportunity for our communities and families.”
