Funding secured for projects in Clawson and Troy!

Budget quote

Last week, the Michigan Legislature passed the final state budget for the 2025 fiscal year. Democratic leaders crafted a budget focused on strategic, targeted investments that improve the lives of people and hometowns across Michigan without raising taxes.

As part of this investment in our community, this budget secures $1 million in funding for water main repair in Clawson and full funding for a new fire truck for the Troy Fire Department. We’ve also increased funding for our local schools, by dedicating excess retirement funding , resulting in an average increase of $400 per pupil statewide. I am happy that this budget directs funding back into local communities and school districts, where it belongs.

July is Disability Pride Month!

Disability graphic

July marks the 34th anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), as well as Disability Pride Month! Equity and inclusion for people with disabilities have improved since the ADA was first signed, but there is much more work to be done. As the chair of the Michigan Legislative Disability Caucus and a person with a disability myself, I will always fight for the quality of life and independence of Michiganders with disabilities.

Community Recognitions and Resources

Tributes, Letters and Certificates

Do you know someone in the district who is retiring and would like a legislative tribute to celebrate their years of service? Has a local team or group reached a milestone that they would like to be acknowledged with an official certificate for each member? Our office can provide legislative tributes, letters, and certificates on a wide range of recognitions for constituents. If you would like to request any of these materials for yourself or others, please email my office at SharonMacDonell@house.mi.gov with as much information as possible on the requested recognition, and we will work with you to arrange delivery or presentation of the recognition!
