April Conversation with Carter
Please join me for my upcoming community hour on Friday, April 18! I look forward to having an informal conversation with you about the issues families face in our community.
Black Maternal Health Week
April 11-17 is recognized as Black Maternal Health Week in Michigan. This year’s theme is “Healing Legacies: Strengthening Black Maternal Health Through Collective Action and Advocacy.” This theme emphasizes the importance of understanding and addressing historical and systemic inequalities, empowering black women and birthing people and working together to create a more equitable healthcare system.

Fair Housing Month
This Fair Housing Month we acknowledge Affordable Housing is a top priority. Rent and housing is the largest monthly expense for the majority of Michiganders, which is why equitable housing is a top priority for House Dems. Housing is not a luxury — it’s a basic right and life necessity. Affordable, equitable housing should be treated as a common good that everyone is entitled to. No one should be homeless in Michigan or have to choose between paying rent and basic needs. I am committed to making housing more affordable and accessible to Detroiters. Please visit the State of Michigan website: Fair Housing for more information.
